The excitement of expecting your first child is truly something else. Couples feel on top of the world as nine long months pass by in a whirlwind of curiosity, joy, and preparation. But while pregnancy brings its own set of challenges, the support of the father-to-be is critical. While the mother-to-be carries 95% of the responsibility, the father’s 5% should be a given. Unfortunately, some men don’t even contribute that small amount of effort—earning them the title of “pure a$$holes.”
In today’s story, we hear from Reddit user Thrownoreveal1, a pregnant woman who shared her frustrations on the “Am I The A$$hole?” subreddit. She explained how her husband repeatedly failed to show any sense of responsibility when she needed him most. He skipped every doctor’s appointment and, worse yet, missed the gender reveal because he chose to hang out with a friend for fish and chips instead of finding out if they were having a boy or a girl.
In response, OP decided to punish her husband by withholding the baby’s gender from him, telling him he’ll find out when the baby is born. After being called out by both her husband and his family for her decision, OP turned to the AITA community for a verdict.

OP you are NTA. I am so infuriated by this husband’s entitled behavior. He thinks it is okay to spend time with his friends while the doctor reveals his baby’s gender to his wife. And then considers it unfair when she refuses to tell him the gender when he is the one who for once didn’t show any responsibility as her husband. He is delusional. OP is doing the right thing.
